yahooBB!! =)

so when i got to school today, i heard we're having a typhoon tomorrow! the vice principal said, "it might be dangerous, so students will stay home and there will be no classes. however, teachers will come to school." what?! so us teachers get to go out in the typhoon! oh no... well, hopefully it won't be too bad. they said it's hard to tell with typhoons. talking to the other teachers about typhoons teaching them about hurricanes was pretty funny though. we were talking about hurricanes and then this other teacher asked me how we pick coconuts in hawaii. he asked if we send the little kids up into the trees to pick them? this was funny because this guy only speaks japanese and i couldn't understand everything so he drew a picture of a palm tree with coconuts and a kid climbing up the tree-- except that the kid looked like a monkey so i almost asked him if he wanted to know if we had monkeys in hawaii--thank goodness no!. i told him that we just go to the supermarket and the coconuts are just there. that made them laugh but honestly, i don't know how they get there! and i'm not sure what this all had to do with hurricanes. i guess they thought if we had a hurricane, the children would stay inside and not be able to pick coconuts to supply the island with =) the other excited part of the day was when i signed up for yahooBB! when i get this, it'll mean internet at home, and 2.5cents calls to home! i can't wiait! they said it'll take about 10 days though, so i guess i have to =( my supervisor went with me to "best denki"-- this big electronics store, to sign up. we were there for over an hour! it took long because i had so many questions and they all had to go through my supervisor and then to the yahooBB guy, and v.v. since he didn't really speak english. when you get your yahooBB bag with the router in it, it's so cool cuz they throw in things like fans, olympic commerative pins, and little bags of chips and snacks. he even threw in a whole bunch of extra snacks because we were there for so long i guess. in america you don't get food for signing up for internet so i thought that was really great. got home around 5, was pretty tired. we did bike it to sunpal though, to get food for dinner. ended up making curry... i miss having a crockpot though!
