sakura in hawaii

well i saw in the star bulletin yesterday that it's sakura time in hawaii and they're going to have a little tour trolley and take people around to see the sakura's in wahiawa, the "sakura capital" of hawaii. i got all excited, remembering the time we were in japan and the sakura was all in bloom... looking forward to sights like this...

so i drove around wahiawa going to the places on my own and i found... sakura!

only thing... it wasn't as big as i expected...

actually the trees were really small and there were not so many flowers... oh well :( guess i just gotta go back japan someday.

Yeah y'know Wahiawa really is a beautiful place when you get up a little higher in altitude... when you drive up through royal palm drive and all those houses up there everything gets so green and the air gets crisper and less buggy. My grandma's house is near the bottom of the drive and she still has a nice HUGE lychee tree in her backyard and as you go up higher and higher it gets nicer and nicer... to me it looks like totoro japan, the houses get all japaniesie too, old style kind. Anyway, it's just too bad the bottom of Wahiawa looks so crappy.
