how to make kakimochi

so do you remember how i was telling you about kerosene heaters in japan? well, this is one of the heaters at my school. we have about 3 of these randomly placed througout the staffroom... this happens to be the one in the copy room/kitchen so maybe you can see a copier back there, and a sink. well, i wandered in there the other day, and what's this? it's mochi... on the heater. actually japanese people call these heaters "stoves"-- because you can also cook on it while it's heating the room. mhmm, seems innovative, but at the same time primitive because really, it's just a big 'ol fire! kinda dangerous too you'd think.. but anyway, here is fire and some mochi right here in the copy room. the mochi starts off really really hard, and you can see various kinds like goma (sesame seed), corn?, seaweed... and then it just toasts itself up until... kakimochi! i'm not sure why but i never thought kakimochi came from mochi. cool!

Ehh, where's the li hinh mui powder?!
i know yeah! i should have brought some to school. i wonder how the mochi that makes kaki mochi is different from the one that makes soft mochi, because i've seen them put regular mochi on the stove before and it just melts and get sticky.
wow that looks so cool! i wanna try that. i wonder where you get the stuff at.
