world expo 2005, aichi (updated)

kikkoro & morizo, the mascots of the world expo

me and the mascots! i like the small one ;)

this weekend went to the world expo in aichi, which is in nagoya. morishita sensei & i went by shinkansen and we stayed with her friend, aya-chan, who lives there. it was so much fun! the weather was HOT at the fair so we hopped from pavillion to pavillion just to get in the AC... and man, was it CROWDED!! they had exhibits like a frozen mammoth, pool imitating the dead sea you could float in, and a life-size replica of the house from my neighbor totoro. too bad we couldn't see these though! some of the waits to get in were over 5 hours! we did get to see lots of cool stuff though! here's the photo album.. we also ate lots of famous nagoya food too like kishime-udon (flat udon, looks like fun noodles) , unagi chazuke, ebi fry, and the best chicken wings i've ever had. oishii!! we also went to this train station called "oasis 21" and the roof was made of water.. well, sort of. you'll see...

How come crazy japanesies always have such ambiguous mascots? Like that brown television rectangle guy. At least these two actually look like bushes... they are supposed to be bushes right?

maybe they just don't want to discriminate? haha, what am i saying, that can't be it. yeah, i think they're bushes.. or some kind of plant matter. and that brown rectangle guy.. i don't know what he is, but i heard he's not a doo-doo like we thought...
