my first hanami

went to a hanami party today! well, hanami means flower-viewing, but it's really like a picnic under the sakura. everyone was out under the trees, having bbqs, drinking (lots of drinking), kids riding bikes, people walking dogs... it was so nice! and it felt like hawaii weather-- finally!! this last picture was our group. tanaka-sensei brought his van, and i lisa and i biked down to meet them (all teachers from my school). they brought lots of yakiniku type stuff to grill-- beef, veggies, potatoes, corn... and we added some spam musubis and li hing apples to the party mix =) more pictures from today soon.. will put it in an album because i took too many!
