the "beach"

so today we went to the "beach" that is a few miles away from yukuhashi. i have to say, when it comes to streets, japan's are the cleanest. but... when it comes to beaches. ugh.

when we got to the "beach", the first thing that surprised me was that there were so many shells. tons and tons of shells! pretty big ones too-- some about as big as my fist, and thousands of smaller ones that looked like clam shells, only prettier. i started collecting some. but then i noticed something else. mixed in with all the pretty shells is a lot of trash! it's so gross! for example, plastic bags half burried in the sand, empty natto containers, bottles, and even the crown of a pineapple. the trash is just EVERYWHERE. i was so grossed out i put down all the shells i had been collecting and had to use some hand sanitizer. will definitely not be going swimming here, even if it was warm enough to go in the water-- which is gray by the way. guess i'm just too spoiled from the lovely beaches back home :)
