i'm a snaaaaake for you

everyday i catch the bus home. yesterday, around 6:30, when i got off the bus, walked about 5 steps up the driveway that leads to my apartment, and i saw this snake right in the road! crikey! it was probably 3 1/2 - 4 feet long i think. when i walked toward it, it slithered up this little hill, so i ran up the stairs on the side and followed it around for a bit. i *think* this is the same kind as the one in james' photo so i'm pretty sure it wasn't poisonous. on the other hand, i'm no steve irwin or jeff corwin, so i don't know! i didn't get that close. my camera has a good zoom and it was trying to get away from me anyway. it finally escaped into a pile of dead leaves.
