nothing much...
nothing much going on here... been doing some halloween lessons this week, playing halloween bingo in the junior high and kanda classes. it's picture bingo, so there's pictures of ghosts and bats and stuff. lisa did it in her classes too. people always ask me if my japanese is getting better, but i don't think so. i just know more words now. so this week i have added to my vocabulary: "kumo" (spider), "koumori" (bat), "majo" (witch) and our favorite, "miira" (mummy). oh, but you need to say it like "meeeeeera" and make it sound all scary.
it's getting colder here-- it's currently 61 degrees F. i can always see my breath, even if it's sunny and the sun sets at 5 something so that by 6:00 it's totally dark, like the middle of the night kind of dark. it's really weird! and people always are commenting about my slippers because i still wear them to and from school (in school, i wear my dorky teacher shoes). but when i'm walking to the bus stop i have slippers on, and they ask me aren't my feet cold? yeah! but, the only other shoes i have are those sore pointy ones, or my running shoes (which doesn't look too good with a skirt). although.. i really shouldn't care about being mismatched here. the male teachers often wear suits to school, and when they get here, take off their dress shoes (outdoor shoes) and put on their indoor shoes, which are usually those adidas-type slipper/sandal things. looks weird with a suit, but that's what they all wear. maybe i better go to youme town and buy some boots!
today going to miyako high school after work to participate in our friend Ria's little halloween thingie they're having with their english club. ria said she's dressing up, and also her husband and her kids have costumes, but i don't have one :( actually... i made a kuma costume out of my scarf but lisa laughed so much i wouldn't dare wear it in public now. hehe... nah, just kidding. it was ridiculous. oh well, no dressing up for this halloween :P
oh yes, and happy birthday to my dad and sam!
