typhoon aftermath

taught at kanda high school today. there was a lot of mess to clean up from the typhoon! in fact, instead of having first period, the students cleaned up around school. these pictures are from my apartment. the one on the left is my balcony.. you can see that the door is not attached anymore and there is no paint left on it either. the picture on the right is the walkway to my apartment where the trees fell inwards so that cars cannot drive through that way. i don't know if trees can be saved when they fall over that way. near kanda, i saw many trees being cut down and hauled away =(

students at kanda are a lot different from the ones at toyotsu. for one thing, 3 out of my 4 classes are all boys except for a few girls. my last class of the day has about 10 girls-- 1/4th. this is because the first 3 classes are students specilizing in mechanics and i think the last one is IT. the atmosphere at kanda is more laid back too. after school, a couple of girls walked me to the train station, which is about half an hour away. their english is a lot better than my japanese -- hazukashii! (embarassing) i'll explain more about kanda later...
